Sarah Kelman - 10,000 miles of Ocean On Thursday 7th September we will be having a talk from Sarah about her voyage across 10,000 miles of ocean. Sarah is an avid photographer and adventurer When she is not flying for work or pleasure, she is usually found on or under the water, and, of course, she always takes her camera with her. She has a passion for nature and hopes to share some of the world's wonders through her travels. Sarah is a distinguished photographer having gained her ARPS distinction with the RPS and her DPAGP with the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain. An extract from Sarah’s book; Adventure across the Atlantic. In December 2012, the Kelman family joined their classic cutter "Croix des Gardes" in Cascais, Portugal, to race her in the inaugural Panerai Transat Classique ocean race. They would be pitted against the elements and hardened ocean racing crews in a test of skill and endurance. The two children, aged six and seven, were the youngest ever to crew such a prestigious event. We gave the professional race boats a run for their money across the Atlantic, followed the history of the Afro-Caribs with primary children in Barbados, tried to hold boat and sanity together in the Lesser Antilles, powered north to the USA and then on to New York and beyond. Part cruising guide, part adventure, it is a story of how we fought the weather, the ongoing maintenance of our yacht and the challenge of maintaining family equilibrium in strange lands whilst avoiding cabin fever.
